Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker contender in the world by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to discover everything he could about the game. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the detrimental comments from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

Phil started competing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win was not a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to discipline and an eternal passion for poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. Phil knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and always strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some large tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
