Stu Ungar is considered by many to the finest No Limit Texas holdem Poker player ever.

The 3 time World Poker Champion was born in New York in 1953 and started wagering poker before reaching his teens.

The young bettor started out playing gin and at the age of 10 had won his primary gin tournament, while on holiday with his parents. By the age of 14 the little poker genius had become a professional and stopped going to school.

In 1954 Stu Ungar entered the history books by winning 10,000 dollars in a gin tournament without dropping a single hand, a record which still stands in New York today.

The quick speaking superstar has been likened, in poker terms, to sporting superstars such as Joe Namath and Kobe Bryant. Stu had a actual skill for betting poker but in spite of his successes in Hold em poker, he preferred playing gin.

Stu once said that there may several day be a far better NL Texas hold’em player than him but he could not see how anyone could ever be a improved gin player.

In ‘80 Stu Ungar was put on the global map as one of the greatest Hold em Poker players in the globe when he was crowned World Poker Champion for the 1st time. Extraordinarily it was the first time he had played in the tournament.

The following year he dismissed any suggestions that it had been a fluke, by effectively protecting his title. And in 1997 Stu set the record by winning his 3rd World poker championship.

But this poker master also battled with drug abuse and a year following succeeding his third title Stu Ungar died in his hotel room. According to medical professionals, he had passed away from a cardiac event which was triggered by his lifestyle.

Stu Ungar had started with nothing except his skill and expertise for the casino game which made this poker great a millionaire many times over.
