Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker competitor in the world by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning one. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup whatever he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the adverse comments from other people annihilate his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.

Phil began competing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn’t a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed a number of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable love for poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. He admits to making blunders in each game of poker and always strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
