Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker contender on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover anything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the detrimental comments from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

He began competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal love for poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is quite humble about his accomplishments. He knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and always strives to get better.

Although Phil has won some large tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
