Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning 1. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover whatever he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the negative feedback from others destroy his dream of being one of the greatest poker players in the world.

He began competing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal love for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every day and is quite humble about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making blunders in each session of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Although Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
