Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker competitor on the globe by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandpa introduced him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup every little thing he could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the negative comments from other people destroy his ambition of becoming one of the best poker players on the planet.

He started playing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching experience and coming away with a win was not a normal thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to hard work and an eternal love for the game of poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. Phil knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and always strives to improve.

Even though Phil has won some big tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
