Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover every little thing he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the adverse comments from other people destroy his goal of being one of the best poker players in the world.

He started competing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching period and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated many of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to hard work and a continuing love for poker. He says that he is learning every single day and is very humble about his success. He knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and always aspires to improve.

Even though Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors winning money games on a normal basis.
