Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker competitor on the globe by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of one. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to pickup whatever he could about poker. He would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the negative feedback from other people annihilate his dream of being one of the best poker competitors in the world.

He started playing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated a number of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to hard work and an immeasurable love for poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his success. Phil admits to making errors in each session of poker and always aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
