Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover every little thing he could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t let the adverse comments from other people annihilate his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

Phil started playing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated many of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an undying love for poker. He states that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his achievements. He admits to making errors every single session of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Although Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
