Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor on the planet by many of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to discover every little thing he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not let the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his dream of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began competing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a learning experience and winning was not a regular thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing passion for poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. Phil admits to making errors in each game of poker and always aspires to improve.

Even though Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
