Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of one. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to learn every little thing he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t let the detrimental feedback from others destroy his goal of being one of the best poker players on the planet.

Phil began competing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a regular thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated many of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to hard work and an eternal love for the game of poker. He says that he is learning every day and is quite abashed about his accomplishments. He admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and always aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a regular basis.
