Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover anything he could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his dream of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.

Phil started competing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated a number of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an undying passion for poker. He states that he’s learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making mistakes in each session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a regular basis.
