Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player on the globe by many of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover everything he possibly could about the game. He routinely would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the detrimental comments from others annihilate his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

Phil began competing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning wasn’t a normal thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed a number of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. He says that he is picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. He admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and always strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
