Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the globe by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup everything he could about poker. He would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the adverse feedback from other people destroy his ambition of being one of the best poker players in the world.

Phil began playing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed a number of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal passion for poker. He states that he’s learning every day and is quite abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
