Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker contender on the planet by many of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning one. His grandfather introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover every little thing he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the adverse comments from others annihilate his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

He started competing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a common thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal love for the game of poker. He says that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes errors in each game of poker and always strives to get better.

Even though Phil has won some large tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
