Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player on the globe by most of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of one. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn everything he could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the detrimental comments from other people kill his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

The beginning few years for him were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated many of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an undying love for the game of poker. He states that he’s learning every day and is very abashed about his success. Although Phil has won some large tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
