Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover whatever he possibly could about poker. Phil would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the adverse comments from other people kill his ambition of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.
He began playing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed many of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to hard work and a continuing love for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is very abashed about his achievements. He knows he makes errors every single session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Even though Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
