Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player on the planet by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to learn everything he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the detrimental comments from others annihilate his goal of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.

Phil began competing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a teaching period and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to hard work and an immeasurable love for poker. He states that he is learning every day and is quite abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making errors every single session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Although Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a normal basis.
